Former Manchester United and Newcastle United winger Keith Gillespie has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Raheem Sterling and Jack Wilshere should be worth the same.
Sterling is on the books of Liverpool at the moment and is considered as one of the best young players in the Premier League.
England international midfielder Wilshere has been at Arsenal his entire career and is also rated as promising young player.
Gillespie has suggested on Twitter that both Sterling and Wilshere should be worth the same, while stating his opinion that the former is not worth £50 million.
Nothing against the lad but is Sterling really worth £50 mill!!! If he is why wouldn't Wilshere be worth the same??— Keith Gillespie (@KeithGillespie7) June 19, 2015
I tend to agree Sterling looks to have potential but in my opinion £50 Mill would be the value after reaching it not before.— Keith Gillespie (@KeithGillespie7) June 19, 2015
Gillespie makes a valid point about Sterling and Wilshere. After all, both are promising players and neither has truly establish himself as a world-class player.
The problem is that Wilshere has suffered with serious injuries over the past few years and is 23 years of age.
Meanwhile, Sterling is only 20 years of age and has been played well for Liverpool for the past two or so seasons.
Neither player is worth £50m, but Sterling would be worth more than Wilshere because of his lack of injury problems (until now) and his age.
