Earlier this week, Southampton officially announced the signing of Spanish forward Juanmi, who joined the Premier League club on a four-year deal, after they paid his €7 million release clause at Malaga.
Clearly enthusiastic about his move to England, everything has happened swiftly for the 22-year-old over the last few days, with much to organise before he links up with the Saints squad for pre-season.
Back on the Costa del Sol, fans of Malaga were sad to see Juanmi leave, especially given their club also sold Samuel Garcia and Samu Castillejo to Villarreal during the same week. All three, products of the club's youth system and very popular amongst supporters.
On Saturday, Juanmi took the opportunity to send a message directly to Malaga fans, via his official Instagram account.
The heartfelt message from Juanmi read:
"Time has passed so quickly over the last few days, and I don't want to leave Malage without giving you the farewell you deserve."
"Before I do that, I can only tell you that wherever I am, I will always be one more Malaguista, and that this isn't a goodbye, but a see you soon. Thank you very much!"
The responses on Instagram were generally favourable, with fans wishing Juanmi the best of fortune at Southampton, and for his future career.
However, there were also some disgruntled messages from Malaga fans, who suggested he'd only moved for the money, or unease at their club for letting the sale go through.
