The young defender has joined from Charlton and is looking forward to working with Brendan Rodgers.
The defender had been linked with a move away from The Valley for some time, with a number of big clubs said to be interested in his signature.
He however decided to choose Anfield, and now he has highlighted just why he chose Brendan Rodgers’ side ahead of everyone else.
“It was an easy decision,” he said on Liverpool's website.
“The club has got great history and it's a great club, and one that I've always been following from when I was young. The style of football and the top players here was somewhere that I wanted to go and get better and learn, and play good football.”
Gomez has joined a relatively young squad at Anfield, with a number of youngsters such as Raheem Sterling, Jordon Ibe, Lazar Markovic, Alberto Moreno and Philippe Coutinho playing important roles in the first team last season.
They also have more youngsters joining the squad for next season with Divock Origi returning from his season long loan spell with Lille and Danny Ings joining on a free from Burnley once he’s finished international duty with the England U-21s.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is well known for developing young talent, and Gomez admits that the manager was a key factor in his decision to move to Liverpool.
“Being a young player, I know that opportunities can be slim sometimes,” he added.
“But under a manager like Brendan, it speaks for itself. That's why I was really keen to come here and play under him.”
