Former Rangers playmaker Thomas Buffel has told The Scottish Sun that Jelle Vossen should sign for Celtic this summer if he gets the opportunity.
Vossen, 26, is a summer target for the Bhoys according to The Scottish Sun, who reported earlier this week that Celtic are leading the race for his signature in a possible £2m deal.
The Belgian forward has spent the last year on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough, scoring nine goals in 40 games for Aitor Karanka's men.
Now though, Vossen is back with Genk in Belgium, with his future up in the air as Celtic and 'Boro fight over a permanent move for the striker.
Whilst Vossen may have a big decision to make in the near future, he has been advised to join the Bhoys - by former Rangers star Buffel.
Buffel, who spent three-and-a-half years with Rangers, played up front for Genk alongside Vossen, and has told his former team-mate to join Ronny Deila's men if he gets the opportunity this summer.
"Jelle would be a big success at Celtic and if you can score goals for one of the Old Firm, you will always be remembered," said Buffel. "There are two massive clubs in Scotland and I would advise him to move to Celtic if he gets the opportunity."
"Personally, I would be sad to see him leave Genk but I understand why he wants a new challenge. I spoke to Jelle on Thursday and he admitted there are a few clubs interested in him. He hopes to get something lined up soon."
"I know what Scottish football is like and Jelle would have no problem adapting to the game there. He’s not a small lad, he is strong and can hold the ball up when it is played into him. Jelle is also good in the air. Like I said, he has many qualities and would suit the Scottish league," he added.
Is Vossen good enough for Celtic?
Vossen had a superb scoring record in Belgium, but struggled to find the net consistently with Middlesbrough, whilst also having some injury problems along the way.
With Celtic heading for a Champions League campaign, Deila needs to find a forward who can score on the biggest stage - and given his record on the Championship, there must be doubts over whether Vossen can really be that player.
