Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Mattia Perin - if Hugo Lloris leaves this summer.
Lloris, 28, is a target for Manchester United if David de Gea leaves for Real Madrid this summer according to the same report from The Sun, and Tottenham need a contingency plan.
They do already have Michel Vorm in the ranks, but a younger goalkeeper may be wanted by manager Mauricio Pochettino for the future.
The report from The Sun suggest that is the case, with Tottenham eyeing up a move to sign Italian international Perin from Genoa.
The 22-year-old has been dubbed the next Gianluigi Buffon by some sections of the Italian press, having impressed during his time with Genoa.
With one Italy cap to his name, Perin is still seen as one for the future on the international stage, but club teams are certainly interested in him.
Tutto Mercato Web recently reported that Perin was a target for West Ham United, and now Tottenham appear to have joined the race to sign the highly-rated shot stopper.
Of course, it all depends on whether Lloris leaves. The lure of Champions League football could be huge for the Frenchman, and with United able to offer that, Spurs are wise to be eyeing up possible replacements just in case their star goalkeeper does leave White Hart Lane.
