It was reported AS last week that Celtic are ‘determined’ to sign Odegaard on loan next season, with head coach Ronny Deila the man who gave him his professional debut at age 15.
It was claimed in the report that Madrid were willing to send him out on loan to guarantee the 16-year-old consistent playing time, with first-team chances unlikely, and Deila was hoping to use his relationship with Odegaard as a way to bring him to Parkhead.
However, it looks as if these chances are no longer possible, with a new report in Marca claiming that Madrid are set to take Odegaard with them on their pre-season tour of Chine and Australia, so Rafa Benitez can start to included him in the first-team.
There are no guarantees that he will be in the squad when the competitive season begins, but Benitez is believed to be keen on the player, and wants to see him play against good opposition this summer.
It is stated that he will earn a spot on the full season roster if he impresses during the tour, making any loan deal unlikely.
He has long stated his ambitions to break into the first-team despite his young age, and if he looks to impress in pre-season, he could well be in Benitez’s squad when the La Liga season rolls around.
