Report: Leeds United will not keep hold of Dario Del Fabro next season

The Italian defender is set to return to Cagliari and help their promotion push.

Leeds United will not be keeping hold of Italian defender Dario Del Fabro next season, according to a report today from Notizie Alguer.

The local source in Italy claims that Leeds will not be keeping hold of him for the upcoming season.

Del Fabro arrived on loan at Leeds from Calgiari in August last year. The Italian under-19 international is a hot prospect and Leeds fans were hopeful of seeing him shine in a white shirt.

Unfortunately the talented defender barely got a game. He featured for Leeds just the once, in a 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Sunderland at The Stadium of Light.

Leeds fans will likely be upset not to have seen him given a proper chance as Del Fabro, who was part of thr now infamous 'sicknote six' looks set to return to Cagliari and help in their bid for immediate promotion back to Serie A.

What does it mean for Leeds?

In reality, not much. Talented he might have been he never featured and Leeds have plenty of centre-back cover. With Sol Bamba set to arrive on a permanent transfer and the likes of Liam Cooper, Giuseppe Bellusci and Scott Wootton already at the club, Del Fabro is not exactly needed.

Leeds fans will likely wish him all the best back in Italy.
