Leeds United have lost out on another apparent transfer target to Derby County. Derby announced on their official website today that former West Brom and Fulham star Chris Baird had signed a two-year deal at the iPro Stadium.

Leeds United were linked with a move for Baird by The Sun last month. That report claimed Leeds were eyeing a double swoop for both Baird and Reading defender Alex Pearce. Of course Pearce also joined Derby. Baird following him certainly seems to suggest that The Rams have ram-raided Leeds Championship transfer plans.
Baird has signed a two-year deal at Derby, who are under new management in the form of former Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement.
They have already been busy this summer, with Darren Bent, Scott Carson and Andreas Weimann all arriving at the club.
They are set to launch a serious promotion campaign next term and are already considered to be favourites by many for the Championship title.
Leeds on the other hand are an unknown commodity. The addition of these two internationals would certainly have helped their cause but it looks like their interest never truly got off the ground.
Derby will hope to laud it over their Championship rivals next season.
