Speaking to the official Southampton YouTube account, Cedric Soares explained why he chose to move to St Mary’s Stadium, with his transfer completed yesterday.
The Portuguese full-back said: “Southampton is a big, big club, and very respectable. It is a club with a lot of history. For me it is very important to play with a big club. I joined this club as I believe we can do better and better every year.”
Cedric, 23, has arrived with a lot of fanfare, with the four capped international regarded as one of the brightest prospects in his country.
He looks to be another great signing for Southampton, following their process of signing young talents who are under the radar, before showing they can impress in the Premier League.
He has admitted that moving to the South Coast was due to the Saints' impressive reputation and the future potential for success, and with Cedric in their ranks, it is hard to deny they are moving on the right path to further improve.
They secured Europa League football for next season with their seventh placed finish - thanks to Arsenal winning the FA Cup - and will start the 2015/16 season looking to claim their first silverware since their return to the top flight.
