Tottenham Hotspur media round-up: Townsend linked with Aston Villa move

A round up of news stories this morning related to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Daily Mirror has reported that Aston Villa are keen on a deal to sign Andros Townsend from Tottenham.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood, who used to manage Spurs, has reportedly identified the player as someone he wants to draft into his squad.

Townsend was in and out of the Tottenham first team last season and could be moved on this summer.

The Daily Star has reported that Manchester United could be to wait until the end of the transfer window to sign Hugo Lloris.

United reportedly see the Frenchman as the man to replace David De Gea, who continues to be linked with a move to Spain.

Tottenham midfielder Nacer Chadli has been quoted by FourFourTwo revealing his belief that his team can qualify for the Champions League next season.

The top four will be the main aim for Tottenham, which means a chance to play in Europe’s premier club competition.

Tottenham came close under Mauricio Pochettino last season, eventually finishing in fifth place.

“I want us to win trophies and reach the top four. That's the target. We learned a lot last season,” said the Belgian.
