Southampton confirmed the signing of Sporting Lisbon defender Cedric Soares on their official website earlier today, with the Portugal international penning a four-year deal with the Saints.
Soares, 23, was born in Germany but moved over to Portugal as a child, joining Sporting Lisbon at the age of just eight - and he's been there ever since.
Save for a loan spell in the 2011-12 season at Academica, Cedric has spent his entire career with Sporting, racking up almost 100 appearances for the club.
Now though, Ccdric arrives on the South Coast until 2019, with Southampton moving quickly to snap up a player who has four caps for Portugal.
Naturally, the right back's arrival has raised question marks over the future of England international Nathaniel Clyne, who excelled in the Southampton defence this past season.
Saints fans took to Twitter after Cedric's arrival not only to discuss their latest new signing, but also contemplate the impact the deal has on Clyne's future at the club.
Many believe Clyne will now leave the club this summer with Cedric replacing him, with supporters delighted to see Cedric arrive.
Here are some of the reactions from Southampton fans on Twitter after signing Cedric...
#SaintsFC have managed to tempt two young, international players from clubs they've been at their whole careers. Not bad.— Kristian (@KristianSFCOake) June 18, 2015
I guess that with the signing of Cedric Soares, we can all presume Nathaniel Clyne will be leaving this summer #SaintsFC— USA saints (@USAsaints) June 18, 2015
Time will tell but £3.5m for a 23 yr old international RB too replace a 24 yr old, who's likely leaving for £15m, looks excellent! #saintsfc— Ben Stanfield (@BenStanners) June 18, 2015
Actually really excited to see what Cedric Soares can produce for #SaintsFC, another bargain price for a full, young international!— Sam Ridout (@sridout92) June 18, 2015
