Roma boss Rudi Garcia is desperate to keep hold of Liverpool and Tottenham-linked Radja Nainggolan

The Frenchman values the powerful midfielder highly and wants him around next season.

Radja Nainggolan enjoyed a fantastic campaign for Roma last season and his form has seen him linked to the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks.

The Belgian is a vital cog in the Roma midfield and Garcia’s words express his determination for that to remain the case.

“Nainggolan is a true force of nature,” Garcia is quoted as saying in The Daily Mail.

“He's got an exceptional mentality and a winning character. He is a leader. I'm counting on him for next season.”

How much influence Garcia will have over whether his midfield enforcer leaves is unclear, but the Belgian will certainly be staying put if he has his way.

Who needs Radja Nainggolan?

The departure of Steven Gerrard this summer has left a void in the Liverpool midfield which has been partially filled following James Milner’s arrival. The Reds will still be looking to further strengthen, however, and Raheem Sterling’s potential sale would provide the funds for a Nainggolan bid.

Spurs are still searching for a first-choice partner to Nabil Bentaleb and have been linked with a whole host of central midfielders. Naiggolan would certainly fit the bill but a move will prove difficult with competition from many of Europe’s elite clubs.

The rebuilding process at Manchester United continues under Louis van Gaal and central midfield has been an area of concern under his tenure. The lack of a true ‘destroyer’ in the middle of the park has been an issue and the Belgian would add considerable bite to United’s midfield.
