The German international could be set to leave Dortmund after 13 years this summer.
Tottenham are right to be eyeing up potential stoppers, as it looks like Hugo Lloris may be on his way out of the club.
The French international captain has made his intentions to play Champions League football clear and is reportedly being eyed up by a Premier League rival.
Manchester United fear losing their number one David De Gea to Real Madrid this summer, as a replacement for the veteran Iker Casillas.
With that in mind Lloris is believed to be a potential replacement for the Spaniard.
If Lloris was to leave Bild believe that the Dortmund keeper may be on the market and of interest to Spurs. Dortmund have just signed Roman Burki from Freiburg and also have high hopes for Australian Mitch Langerak. Weidenfeller would therefore be available.
Is Weidenfeller good enough to replace Lloris?
In a word, no. The 34-year-old, who has five caps for Germany, has played over 400 games for Dortmund and a couple of years ago was in the form of his life.
But last term he struggled badly for his best form and Dortmund fans have been clamouring for a new stopper this summer, with the young Switzerland international a popular choice among Schwarzgelden fans.
If Tottenham do lose Lloris, they would be better off finding a younger alternative to the Dortmund veteran.
