Report: AS Roma ready bid for Watford linked Thomas Heurtaux

AS Roma - Stadio Olympico

The Frenchman is said to be keen on a move to Watford.

French defender Thomas Heurtaux, who has been linked with Watford this summer, has been linked with a move to Italian giants AS Roma by Corriere dello Sport.

They claim that the Giallorossi will offer Udinese €4 million and a player on loan to get their hands on the reliable defender.

This summer there are likely to be plenty of players linked with heading to Watford from Udinese, who are also owned by the Pozzo family. It was reported by the Watford Observer last month that Heurtaux was one such player.

The 26-year-old centre-back has been a regular in Serie A in and is one of the most consistent performers in the Italian league.

It was later reported by Voci di Sport that the player himself had accepted the proposal and is all set to switch Serie A for the Pozzo franchise in the Premier League.

The report from CdS today however will certainly cast doubt over any move.

What now for Watford?

They better hope the Pozzo's work some magic. Heurtaux would be a great signing for the Premier League but with a team as big as Roma lurking it is going to be tough to convince him that Vicarage Road is the place to be.

Watford currently have plenty of central defensive options, but Heurtaux is arguably a better option than all of them and would be more than welcome in Hertfordshire.
