HITC Sport has been told by sources close to the player that Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is set to cross London and link up with Crystal Palace.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper has spent just 12 months at Loftus Road, having joined QPR from Reading last summer.
That switch offered him a step back up into the Premier League, but he was to find first-team opportunities limited as Rob Green dominated the number one jersey with the R’s.
McCarthy is now set to find himself making a similar jump when the latest transfer window re-opens, leaving Championship-bound QPR for life in the top-flight with Palace.
He will, once again, face fierce competition for places at Selhurst Park, though, with Eagles stalwart Julian Speroni having committed to fresh terms.
Wayne Hennessey is also on the books at Palace, but the Wales international continues to be heavily linked with a move elsewhere.
McCarthy will be hoping that he gets to see more minutes in 2015/16 if he is to find himself on the books of new employers, with regular game time essential if he is to scale the heights which saw him drafted into the senior England squad back in 2013.
