Confirmed: England Under-21 line-up to play Portugal - Kane starts

Three Lions close

Here is how England Under-21s will line up for their match against Portugal in the European Championships.

England starting XI: Butland (c), Jenkinson, Moore, Gibson, Garbutt, Ward-Prowse, Carroll, Chalobah, Redmond, Kane, Lingard

Substitutes: Forster-Caskey, Pritchard, Bond, Bettinelli, Keane, Lingard, Ings, Hughes, Chambers, Targett, Loftus-Cheek.

England Under-21s kick off their European Championship tournament in Uherske Hradiste tonight, against a Portugal side full of quality.

Gareth Southgate's side will likely be reeling from the loss of striker Saido Berahino from the tournament with an injury, and the absence of Everton's John Stones, who has suspected concussion, from the first two group matches.

Wolves' former Arsenal striker Benik Afobe has been called up to replace the West Brom forward.

Much will be expected of Tottenham star Harry Kane, who was the top scoring Englishman in the Premier League last year.

Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland will captain the side.

The Portuguese are likely to include Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori, who is also eligible to represent England, and Sporting star William Carvalho.

Italy and Sweden are the other teams in Group B, and they kicked off earlier on in Olomouc.

Only the top two sides go through to the semi-finals, so England will be determined to pick up three points ahead of a meeting with Sweden on Sunday.
