Celta Vigo 'secure' move for Daniel Wass on a five-year deal

Premier League sides Stoke City and Southampton appear to have missed out, after Daniel Wass reportedly agrees terms with Celta Vigo.

Danish international Daniel Wass is but a step away from completing a move to La Liga side, Celta Vigo, according to reports in the Galician media.

El Faro de Vigo assures that the 26-year-old has agreed terms on a €2.9 million move from French club Evian, on a five-year deal that will earn him around €750,000 per season.

Wass visited the A Madroa training complex of Celta Vigo last week, was apparently impressed with the facilities available at the club, and is only waiting the final signing of paperwork, to complete his move to the side who finished 8th in La Liga last season.

This will surely come as a disappointment to Stoke City, who were strongly linked with interest by The Daily Mail recently, who also suggested Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United, had also been scouting the player.

Meanwhile, Southampton were also reportedly very keen on Wass, according to The Mirror, who regarded him as a possible replacement for Nathanial Clyne.

Wass, who operates as either a right-back or a right-winger, has spent the last four seasons with Evian. During the 2014-15 campaign, he scored 8 goals in 32 appearances in Ligue 1.
