Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Carlos Sanchez performance v Brazil

The Colombian destroyer was in fine form v Brazil last night.

Last night saw two of the Copa America's powerhouses going head-to-head in a major clash in Chile. Colombia took on Brazil in both teams second game of the tournament, with Brazil the favourites after the first round of matches.

Brazil had beaten Peru whilst Colombia were shocked by Venezuela, leaving Brazil expected to defeat the talented Colombia side with ease.

That did not prove to be the case.

Colombia dominated throughout, with a goal from Jeison Murillo proving enough for victory in a heated encounter.

Despite all the stars on the Colombia team - such as James Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao and Juan Cuadrado - there was one player who stole the show, and he plays for Aston Villa.

Carlos Sanchez, 'La Rocca', was in sensational form for Colombia. He put in a blinding display of midfield discipline to thwart Brazil in attack time and time again.

He was awarded man-of-the-match and rightly so after a performance unrivalled on the night.

Villa fans are probably wondering where this guy has been all season. A summer signing from Elche Sanchez is undoubtedly talented but was not always at his best in his debut term.

But Tim Sherwood appears to be a fan and after watching him shackle Neymar and co, Aston Villa fans are hoping to see a much improved Sanchez at the club next term...
