Could West Bromwich Albion sign a Japanese international to play at full-back next season?
The 28-year-old can also play on the opposite side of defence or on the left wing if required and his versatility and experience suggest he will have no shortage of suitors if he does move on.
Indeed, the latest report claims that along with West Brom, German club Schalke and Italian side Sampdoria are also keen.
The Japanese international – who has been capped 81 times for his country – has played 151 times for Inter, scoring 11 goals and providing 18 assists to date.
Injuries prevented him from playing as much as he would have hoped last season, in which he managed just 18 appearances. But by the end of the campaign he was back starting and with West Brom in need of some new full-backs he would certainly fit the bill.
With just one year remaining on his current contract it is unlikely to take big money to secure a move, but with other clubs throwing their hats in the ring West Brom will have to be swift – and perhaps a tad lucky – to seal a deal.
