According to The Guardian, defender Micah Richards has completed his medical with Aston Villa - and the deal should be done within 48 hours.
Richards, 25, is a free agent due to his Manchester City contract expiring, and can now move to any club of his choice on a free transfer.
After a season on loan with Italian side Fiorentina, Richards now looks set to return to the Premier - and a move back to his hometown of Birmingham is on the cards.
The Guardian believe that Richards has not only agreed terms with Aston Villa but has now completed a medical with Tim Sherwood's men ahead of a four-year deal at Villa Park.
The former England international will be brought in to help Villa's defence next season, with the report suggesting that Sherwood has promised Richards he will be playing at centre back rather than at right back, where has has played in recent years.
A deal is allegedly a matter of hours away from completion, with Richards' arrival casting doubts over Ron Vlaar's future at Aston Villa.
The Dutch international, 30, is also out of contract this summer, but could now leave Villa with Richards arriving to play n Vlaar's centre back position alongside Jores Okore.
