Manchester United are reportedly looking to sign Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng.

It won't come as a surprise if Manchester United were linked with every single player in the current Bayern Munich set-up before the summer transfer window closes in September.

There's another we can add to the list which already consists of names such as Thomas Muller, as per ESPN, and Bastian Schweinsteiger, as per the Daily Mail.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United are also negotiating to try and bring Bayern Munich centre-back Jerome Boateng to Old Trafford.

The Reds looked questionable in defence last season and had to call upon youngsters such as Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair with a plague of injuries hitting Louis van Gaal's men.

Although it was great experience for Blackett and McNair, United need to strengthen in that department and have since been linked heavily with footballers such as Nicolas Otamendi, as per the Mirror, Mats Hummels, as per ESPN, and Miranda, as per talkSPORT.

Boateng now joins a list of talented centre-backs believed to be on van Gaal's radar. The 26-year-old joined Bayern Munich in 2011 and has since won three Bundesliga titles, 2 DFB-Pokals and a Champions League.
