Could Manchester United be about to replace one Brazilian with another at right-back?
The 21-year-old is a regular for the Ligue 1 side, playing 53 times last season and 84 times in total.
He arrived in France from Real Madrid and has a contract with Monaco until the summer of 2019, but the latest report claims United are willing to test their resolve with an offer of €14million.
While Fabinho is predominantly a full-back he can also play as a defensive midfielder if required and that versatility could be a key factor in United’s alleged interest.
After all, they need to strengthen both positions and with Fabinho still young but with plenty of experience, he could blossom into a very fine player.
With Rafael rarely featuring for United since Louis van Gaal took charge, and with Antonio Valencia more of a makeshift right-back than a ready-made replacement, it would be no surprise if the club did strengthen in that area this summer.
Having recently won his first senior cap for Brazil, Fabinho could be the shock solution.
