Leeds youngster Lewis Walters is staying at Elland Road.
Leeds United have today confirmed that young winger Lewis Walters has penned a new one-year contract extension with the club.
Having seen midfielders Lewis Cook and Kalvin Phillips already sign contract extensions earlier this summer, Leeds have once again moved to keep their home-grown talent at Elland Road.
Walters, 20, is just one in a long line of academy graduates making the step up to the Leeds first team, joining the likes of Sam Byram, Charlie Taylor, Alex Mowatt and the forementioned Cook and Phillips.
With a lack of real wingers at Elland Road, Walters could have a real part to play under Uwe Rosler this coming season, and his one-year new contract extension just serves to demonstrate how highly Leeds rate him.
The deal gives Walters the chance to impress this coming season, and prove that he is worth more of a commitment than just a one-year deal.
Upon hearing the news earlier today, Leeds fans took to Twitter to discuss Phillips' extended contract, with many giving words of support to the forward.
Some even suggested that Walters could be a first-team regular under Rosler, and urged him to make the most of his chance.
Here are some of the reactions from Leeds fans to Walters' contract extension...
@lewiswalterss congrats on the deal, take your chance to impress in pre season and get in that first team
