Le Tissier comments suggest likely destination for Morgan Schneiderlin

Saints legend Matt Le Tissier says it looks like Morgan Schneiderlin will be heading off to join a Champions League team this summer.

Former Southampton star Matt Le Tissier told talkSPORT that it’s looking likely that a Champions League club could poach Morgan Schneiderlin away from the Saints this summer.

Le Tissier was relaxed when he talked about the possibility of his old side selling the Frenchman when the transfer window opens on July 1, suggesting that if Southampton get their top price, a deal will more than likely happen.

“If you’re paying the going rate and everyone is happy with the deal then let’s get on with it – It looks like if a Champions League club pays the money that Southampton want, then a deal will probably be done,” he said.

The comments suggest that Schneiderlin will more than likely be a strong target for Arsenal if he wants to stay inside the Premier League.

The Daily Mirror recently reported that he’s open to the possibility of joining the Gunners, but may be reluctant to move to Tottenham Hotspur, currently playing in the Europa League.

Manchester United is also an option, but they are under pressure to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League and arguably don’t need a holding player, with Daley Blind able to play in front of their back four.

Arsene Wenger would point to the form and impact of Francis Coquelin as a reason that he doesn’t need to sign a holding player, but with Arsenal well backed in terms of resources, they can’t pass up the opportunity to make this deal happen.

If they dangle a carrot which is big enough, Le Tissier doesn’t seem to think the Saints will be able to resist.
