Former Arsenal midfielder Song played on loan for the Hammers during the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign.
The 27-year-old started the season well, but he failed to maintain those high standards during the second half.
In 28 Premier League appearances, Song created 28 chances, had a pass accuracy of 76% and a shot accuracy of 17%, and won 17 headers, 39 dribbles and 73 tackles.
Former West Ham defender Dicks does not seem to be fully convinced by Song, and has suggested on Twitter that the London outfit should not sign him on a permanent deal.
@JULIAN3DICKS Hi terminator....do you think Westham should sign Alex Song..He had a great start but seemed to fade away in the end.— Michael clarke (@westhammick1955) June 16, 2015
I think he's a decent player, but there are better players out there , consistency is key. https://t.co/IPg6uu6Bi3— Julian Dicks (@JULIAN3DICKS) June 16, 2015
Song moved to Spanish giants Barcelona from North London outfit Arsenal in the summer of 2012, and his current contract with the Blaugrana runs until June 2017.
According to a report in The Sunday People earlier this month, Southampton are interested in signing Song.
