The Saints and Hammers wanted the Czech international this summer.

According to a report in the Czech press both West Ham United and Southampton were in pursuit of the same talented Czech defender, Pavel Kaderabek, this summer. reported that both Premier League clubs were keen on signing the player from Czech giants Sparta Prague this summer.

The report did however mention that Bundesliga side Hoffenheim were the front-runners for his signature - with West Ham and Southampton in pursuit along with Schalke 04.

Now it has emerged that Hoffenheim have won the race for his signature. The talented defender becomes the second player this summer to reject the Premier League for Hoffenheim, following in the footsteps of Fabian Schar. Kaderabek has signed a deal until 2019 with the Bundesliga outfit.
