Burnley boss says Kieran Trippier's proposed move to Tottenham is an 'active deal'

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be closing in on another summer signing.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that Kieran Trippier’s proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur is an “active deal” according to the Championship side’s official Twitter account.

A recent report in the Independent claimed the right-back will have a medical at Tottenham on Wednesday ahead of a likely £3.5million transfer and now Dyche appears to have confirmed the deal is going along nicely.

Tottenham already have two right-backs on their books in the form of Kyle Walker and DeAndre Yedlin, while Eric Dier and Vlad Chiriches can also play there if required, but that has seemingly not stopped Spurs moving for the 24-year-old.

Trippier played every single Premier League match for Burnley last season, impressing on a regular basis, and it seems Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was paying attention.

Tottenham have already signed Kevin Wimmer this summer and a move for Trippier would suggest Pochettino recognises the need to strengthen his defence.

That said, if the move for the right-back is completed it would be no surprise if Tottenham then moved on to adding a central midfielder, a new striker and some additional wingers to their squad.
