Liverpool's fixture list offers them an immediate chance of redemption when they travel to the Britannia Stadium on the opening day of the new Premier League season - returning to the scene of their 6-1 demolition at the hands of Stoke City.
After last season, Brendan Rodgers finds himself falling under mounting pressure. He has seen two members of his backroom staff leave the club after an end of season review - a season which saw the Reds finish without silverware for a third consecutive year and fail to secure Champions League football for the upcoming campaign.
There has been talk among fans that after such a disappointing season, a poor start to the next campaign could see Rodgers facing an exit before Christmas - with the release of the 2015/16 fixtures doing his cause few favours as Liverpool seek to avoid finding themselves put on the back foot from the off.
Seven of the most treacherous away games around await before the end of November - including a return to the scene of the biggest defeat inflicted upon them in over 40 years, all of the sides that finished above them in the Premier League last season and a Merseyside derby, with it difficult to see where a healthy return of points is going to come from in that run.
Some will suggest that they are better facing some of the bigger sides on the road early in the season, when their opponents are perhaps not at their best. This pre-season needs to be an intense one, though, for Liverpool if they are to hit the ground running.
If the Reds are in striking distance of their league objectives at the end of this run - which one would imagine is a top four-finish at the very least - then there is every chance of enjoying a productive season. If they are in the bottom half of the table again, the knives will be out for the Liverpool boss.
