The dust has settled on Bilic becoming the man to replace Sam Allardyce and the new gaffer is already looking ahead to developing his philosophy at the club.
It won’t be easy considering the pressure on him to develop the club and move them forward, but Bilic is clear over what he sees as the key aspect for the style of the team.
“The defensive and organisation will give you the privilege to play with flair. Everything comes from good organisation,” said the manager.
“Even before there were any sort of rumours, I followed West Ham because I’m crazy about football.”
If the team is as solid as a rock across the back four and in midfield, the creativity and flair can flow from there.
If there’s a lack of discipline across the team, it’s more difficult for each section to function as a unit, with gaps appearing in the defence, which the opposition can exploit.
Bilic seems to want West Ham to be difficult to beat first, before looking ahead to developing the entertaining brand of football which is what the supporters crave and desire.
It also bodes well for organisation in other areas of the club, which is important ahead of a vital move to the Olympic Stadium.
The fact Bilic has spent time watching his old club play, before he was aware of the job, also gives him a head start and he’ll be full of ideas and raring to go for pre-season.
