West Brom fans react on Twitter to Gareth McAuley signing new contract

Gareth McAuley has signed a new deal with Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion.

West Bromwich Albion fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to have their say on Gareth McAuley signing a new contract with the club.

The defender put pen to paper on a new one-year deal on Monday and will remain at The Hawthorns for the 2015-16 campaign.

The 35-year-old’s original contract was due to run out at the end of the month, but it seems that manager Tony Pulis considers him an important part of his team.

The Northern Ireland international scored one goal and created three chances in 24 Premier League appearances in the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign.

McAuley had a pass accuracy of 71% and a shot accuracy of 13%, and won 71 headers, four dribbles and 19 tackles.

West Brom came 13th in the Premier League table with 44 points from 38 matches and will be pushing for a top-10 finish next season.

Following McAuley signing a new deal, the Baggies’ fans took to Twitter to have their say.
