Chelsea look set to add to their striking ranks with the addition of Radamel Falcao on a similar deal to the one that saw him ply his trade at Old Trafford last season. The BBC have reported that the striker, who is currently playing in the Copa America with Colombia, will join the reigning Premier League champions on a year-long loan.
At the end of the August transfer window in 2014 it looked as though Louis Van Gaal had pulled off quite the coup as Manchester United managed to bring in Falcao from Monaco on a season-long loan deal. However, just four goals in 29 appearances later and Falcao's reputation had taken a serious hit.
The Red Devils passed up on the opportunity to sign the South American on a permanent deal, but now Jose Mourinho looks set to give the former Atletico Madrid striker another chance in the Premier League. It gives Falcao a chance to link up with Diego Costa again after their spell in La Liga together. There's no doubting his talents, as shown at every other club he's played for, but it would be especially sickening for Manchester United fans if Falcao found his form once again next season.
Here is how some of their fans have been reacting to the news on social networking site Twitter:
I see no reason why we Manchester United fans should hate Falcao just because he is joining Chelsea!— Tactical Genius (@Yamani_Benzema) June 16, 2015
Chelsea to sign Falcao? Didn't have Manchester United's reserves watched much last season then?— Andy Gilderdale (@AndyGilder) June 16, 2015
Good luck to Falcao, no point saying oh I bet he does well at them…!! He was awful with us so correct call to move him on considering £!— Gordon Moffat (@Moffstovoi) June 16, 2015
I don't expect Falcao to flop next season. Bad times never last forever. Good luck getting any games though. Sigh.— AmiGo (@AmvGo) June 16, 2015
Good luck to Falcao though i can't see him getting back to his best, i struggle to see how he'll get any regular playing time— Luke Tamlyn (@LukeTamlyn) June 16, 2015
