Tottenham fans react on Twitter to possibility of Casillas replacing Lloris

Iker Casillas Spain

Real Madrid are reportedly hopeful that goalkeeper Iker Casillas will take a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Daily Mirror is among the sources running the news that Real Madrid are reportedly hopeful that they can send Iker Casillas into a move to Tottenham.

The idea is that it would make Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy more likely to allow Hugo Lloris to join Manchester United, which would then release David De Gea to complete a move to the Bernabeu in Spain’s capital.

Casillas has also been linked with a move to Arsenal or Liverpool, with the Daily Express stating that he is a target for both Premier League sides.

He would be a high quality and experienced capture for Tottenham and would allow them to boast over their rivals, but whether the rumour has any legs at all is extremely doubtful.

Tottenham, rightly, will be very protective over Lloris, who is one of their best players and vital to the structure of the defence under Pochettino.

If he’s going to move this summer to a Champions League club, it’s going to need an exceptional offer to get him away from the North Londoners.

He’s made it clear in the past that he wants to play in the Champions League, but Levy in particular will be wary of making a rival in the form of United, stronger if he’s forced into selling the player for a very high price.

The Daily Mail has even suggested that it’s extremely doubtful as to whether Tottenham would get anywhere near signing Casillas.

His chances of remaining Real Madrid’s number one are damaged if De Gea joins the club, but he’s vowed to fight rather than taking that move as a sign that his career with the Spanish giants is over.

Here’s what Tottenham fans have had to say about the possibility of Casillas coming in as a possible replacement for Lloris.
