West Ham face competition from Sevilla in their efforts to sign midfielder Alen Halilovic, report Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
Losing out to the Spanish side would be a disappointment to the Hammers, especially considering they made attempts to appoint Sevilla boss Unai Emery earlier this month, before he committed his future to the back-to-back Europa League winners by signing a new contract, as reported SkySports.
The latest report in Mundo Deportivo claims Sevilla want to sign Halilovic on loan for the season, hoping he can emulate the success of Denis Suarez, the former Manchester City trainee who has been out on loan from from Barcelona at Sevilla this season, scoring six goals.
Sevilla have also had Gerard Deulofeu, a former Everton loanee, in from Barcelona for the past season, and have sold Aleix Vidal and Ivan Rakitic to the La Liga champions over the past 12 months.
The two clubs are familiar and comfortable doing business together, and while West Ham have had Alex Song on loan from Barcelona last season and have an 'in' themselves, Emery and Sevilla's interest in Halilovic is not good news for the Hammers.
