Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Sven Bender from Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to The Daily Mail.
The British newspaper also claim that Southampton are interested in the defensive midfielder, but both the Premier League clubs would have to wait until July.
That’s because next month new Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel will assess his squad and decide on which players he wants to keep for next season.
Bender is one of the best players in the Bundesliga and has been on the books of Dortmund since 2009.
The Germany international’s current contract with the former German champions runs out in June 2017, which means that Tottenham and Southampton will have to pay a transfer fee.
The former 1860 Munich star created 11 chances in 20 Bundesliga appearances in the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign.
Bender had a pass accuracy of 79% and a shot accuracy of 25%, and he won 49 headers, 15 dribbles and 42 tackles.
Interestingly, Bender’s twin brother Lars is reportedly on the radar of Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham.
According to The Sun, the Gunners are reignited their interest in Lars Bender, who is on the books of Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen at the moment.
