Report: Sunderland to sign Carl Jenkinson on loan from Arsenal

West Ham United, Sunderland and Southampton are reportedly interested in Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson.

Sunderland have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Carl Jenkinson on loan this summer, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that the England international defender will join the Black Cats on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window.

Premier League rivals West Ham United and Southampton are also interested in the 23-year-old, according to the report.

However, The Mirror claim that “Arsenal are negotiating a deal with Sunderland and that now looks on”.

Jenkinson moved to North London outfit Arsenal from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2011, but he has yet to impress at the Emirates Stadium.

The 23-year-old was loaned out to West Ham United for the 2014-15 season, and he gave a good account of himself at the Boleyn Ground.

The Englishman created 22 chances in 32 Premier League appearances for the Hammers.

Jenkinson had a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 60%, and won 22 headers, 11 dribbles and 26 tackles.
