The 26-year-old defender played for Parma during the 2014/15 campaign, making 19 appearances as they failed to stay in Serie A, and saw off-field issues cloud their future.
Financial difficulties have seen them be placed up for auction, and if no buyer can be found, they will start the new campaign in the lowest division, with every player leaving following the cancellation of their contracts.
With this situation looking increasingly likely, the original report claimed that the Bhoys have already attempted to open talks with Feddal, but were put on hold until the season came to a close.
Despite Feddal’s unwillingness to open talks with Celtic, the second TMW report indicates that Southampton have actually offered Feddal at contract, following the rejection of a move to Udinese.
The defender has been approached with a four-year deal by the Saints, and although there are no indications that he is ready to accept, it is said that he wants to secure a move away from Parma at the earliest opportunity.
It remains to be seen whether Celtic revisit their interest in the coming weeks, and are prepared to match Southampton’s contract offer in an attempt to sign Feddal.
