Report: Manchester United face battle for Atletico Madrid's Miranda from Inter Milan

Inter Milan are reportedly hoping to pip Manchester United to the signature of Atletico Madrid defender Miranda.

Atletico Madrid defender Miranda is expected to be on the move this summer, with clubs across Europe reported to be enquiring as to his availability.

Manchester United have been tracking the 30-year-old since David Moyes was in charge last year, as per talkSPORT, and are said to still be showing an interest in the centre-back.

However, according to Sky Sport Italia, Inter Milan are confident they can beat United to Miranda's signature.

Miranda signed a three-year pre-contract agreement with Atletico Madrid in January 2011 before joining the La Liga club in June of that year after deciding not to renew his deal with Sao Paulo in Brazil. He then made his debut for the club in a 1-0 loss to Valencia CF.

After helping Atletico Madrid to their first title in 17 years, in 2014, Miranda was nominated as the best defender in La Liga, alongside Filipe Luis and Sergio Ramos.

The Brazilian centre-half also featured in the Champions League final that year, losing to Real Madrid. However, he did get a taste of European success in 2012 when Atletico won the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.
