Everton are interested in signing Patrick Bamford from Chelsea this summer, according to The Daily Mail.
It has been reported by the British newspaper that the Toffees have already made “tentative enquiries” about the 21-year-old forward.
Whether Everton want to sign the youngster on a loan deal or on a permanent basis is not clear, but the Toffees will likely face competition for his signature.
That’s because a number of Premier League clubs are reportedly keen on securing the services of the England Under-21 international.
Bamford is one of the best young players in England at the moment and was in superb form for Middlesbrough during his loan spell in the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign.
The young forward scored 16 goals and created 28 chances in 40 Championship appearances, firing Boro to the playoff final in the process.
The 21-year-old had a pass accuracy of 70% and a shot accuracy of 51%, and he won 39 headers, 17 dribbles and 12 tackles.
Bamford’s performances for Middlesbrough showed that he is ready to be given a chance at Chelsea, but the problem is that he will not be considered a first-choice striker rightaway.
Perhaps the best move for Bamford this summer is to go out on loan to a Premier League club where he would get more chances that he would at Chelsea.
