HITC Sport understands that Championship new boys Preston and MK Dons are keen on Ian Black, a man about to leave Rangers as a free agent.

Newly promoted Championship duo Preston North End and Milton Keynes Dons are both interested in Ian Black, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the player.

30-year-old Black is set to become a free agent, leaving Rangers following three years at Ibrox.

The Scottish international midfielder is now looking to move south of the border for the first time since he began his career as a trainee with Blackburn Rovers.

And Black looks set for a move to the Championship, and it is two newly promoted sides who are battling to try and land him.

Milton Keynes Dons and Preston North End, who battled on the field at the end of last season as both secured a safe passage out of League One, are now set to lock horns off it for the signature of Black.

HITC Sport understands that a number of Scottish Premiership clubs have also registered an interest in Black, but he is keen to try his luck in England.
