New Manchester United signing Memphis Depay has posted a photo to his Instagram alongside a player the club wish they could buy back.
Depay's image with Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba received more than 9,000 likes in under 20 minutes, accompanied by his simple message which said: "Real recognise real."
Dutch international Depay became Manchester United's first, and so far only, summer signing last month from PSV, with the Red Devils beating off competition from French champions PSG for his signature.
Pogba once played for United, graduating through their youth system having been bought from Le Havre, but became frustrated with a lack of first team chances.
He signed with Juventus after his contract expired and immediately established himself, going onto win successive Serie A titles.
Pogba earlier this month played in the Champions League final against Barcelona, and is Europe's most in-demand midfielder.
The Sun reported Manchester City's interest last night, while SkySports claimed that Real Madrid have expressed their desire to sign the Frenchman. The Metro had last month reported Manchester United wanted to splash the cash on re-signing the French international.
Perhaps Depay was putting in a good word, or at least urging him to snub City...
