Blackstone has hired Jonathan Pollack from Deutsche Bank to be chief investment officer of its property-debt unit, which oversees almost $10bn of investor capital.

Bloomberg News reports that Pollack had been global head of Deutsche Bank’s commercial real estate group, where Blackstone was one of his biggest clients. He left the lender last week after 16 years with the company.

In the meantime, Bloomberg also reports that James Malcolm, a foreign-exchange strategist at Deutsche Bank, has joined Caxton Associates in London.

Malcolm confirmed Monday he is working at the hedge-fund firm, though declined to provide further details when contacted by e-mail.

The hire is the latest Deutsche Bank employee to join the firm co-founded by billionaire Bruce Kovner.
