Neil Warnock: Wenger doesn't have any excuses for not completing Cech deal

Former Premier League manager Neil Warnock suggested that Arsenal must push on and compete a deal for reported target Petr Cech.

Former Premier League manager Neil Warnock told talkSPORT that he feels Arsene Wenger doesn’t have any excuses for not completing a deal to sign Petr Cech.

Warnock suggested that the situation has almost fallen into Arsene Wenger’s lap, with the Daily Mail suggesting that the Gunners now hold the edge in the race to sign him.

“I think it’s almost fallen into Arsene’s lap really – He doesn’t have any excuses for not getting the deal done,” he said.

The main difficulty that Arsenal have always had with regards to signing Cech from Chelsea, is the fact that they will be a rival to the Blues for the Premier League title next season.

However, with a top quality shot stopper in place in the form of Thibaut Courtois, the tide seems to be turning slightly, with Chelsea recognising the long term service that Cech has given the club.

He deserves the option to move on to the club of his choice and that could well be the Gunners.

The only thing potentially holding Wenger back from having already pushed for a conclusion to the deal is the fact he’s got two top quality ‘keepers in David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny.

One of them, most likely the Pole, would seemingly have to move on before Cech could arrive to sign on the dotted line at the Emirates.

If Cech is keen to stay in the Premier League and to stay in London, Arsenal are the best choice and they need to get the deal done before he potentially slips away.
