Massimo Cellino hails Leeds United's new shirt deal as 'another important move'

The Leeds United owner has been speaking following the club's latest announcement.

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has been speaking to the club’s official website following the announcement that the club will have their shirts provided by sportswear company Kappa for the next five years.

The news was announced at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, and Cellino said, “Kappa are a big brand at the right brand for Leeds United. We both have great histories and we are both looking to get to that next level.

“This is another important move for the club and I would like to welcome Kappa here.”

Those Leeds fans hoping the arrangement of the press conference was to unveil another new signing were left disappointed, but it is unlikely to be long before manager Uwe Rosler has more additions to his promising squad.

The club shirt will have no main sponsor next season, instead being a plain white top with only the club badge and the Kappa logo, and it will be officially launched at the Elland Road superstore on July 11.

Things are looking up at Leeds right now and this is another step in the right direction, even if the press conference was somewhat anti-climactic.

Still, for supporters used to their fair share of bad news, perhaps that is a good thing.
