Championship outfit Forest will take on League One outfit Walsall in the first round of the prestigious cup competition at the City Ground next month.
Paterson seems to be excited at the prospect of facing his former club and has posted the following message on Twitter:

Paterson started his footballing career at Walsall and played for them until 2013, scoring 16 goals in 102 games in all competitions in the process.
The Englishman joined Forest in the summer of 2013, signing a two-year contract with the option of a third, as reported by BBC Sport at the time.
The 23-year-old winger scored eight goals and created 45 chances in 32 Championship appearances in the 2013-14 season.
Paterson had a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 57%, and won four headers, 29 dribbles and 18 tackles.
In the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign, the winger scored one goal and created 12 chances in 21 league matches.
Paterson had a pass accuracy of 77% and a shot accuracy of 43%, and won two headers, 16 dribbles and 18 tackles.
