Former Brentford boss Mark Warburton has been appointed the new manager of Scottish Championship club Rangers.

Alex Rae has taken to social networking site Twitter to send a simple message to newly-appointed Rangers manager Mark Warburton.

The former Rangers midfielder has wished the Englishman and his assistant David Weir the best of luck in their respective new roles at Ibrox.

It is a simple message from Rae, but it speaks volume of the 45-year-old’s wish to see his former club Rangers prosper in the future.

Earlier this month, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star told BBC Radio Scotland that he wants to be part of the new management team at the Scottish giants (click here to read more).

Rae spoke of his desire to work with former Rangers manager Alex McLeish at Ibrox, having worked with him at Belgian club Genk recently.

However, it seems that Rae is not disappointed not to be part of Rangers’ rebuilding project and wishes Warburton the best of luck for the future.

Rangers, who reached the Scottish Premiership playoff final in the recently concluded 2014-15 season, will be aiming for automatic promotion from the Championship next season.
