A report has claimed Tottenham Hotspur want these five players to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur have five top targets this summer.
Those players are said to be Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan, Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, Atletico Madrid centre-back Toby Alderweireld, Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and Monaco front-man Anthony Martial.
Those players would certainly add a considerable amount of quality to Tottenham’s side but it would take a considerable outlay to sign them all.
Schneiderlin, Benteke and Alderweireld have been linked with potential moves to White Hart Lane for some time, and their previous Premier League experience marks them out as canny investments should Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino be able to secure them.
In one sense Martial is a player for the future, but the way he has played for AS Monaco this season, and given Tottenham’s previous trust in youth, it would not be long before he was given first-team opportunities.
Nainggolan would also not come cheap, the Belgian international having a contract at Roma until the summer of 2018 and with 66 appearances for the Italian side in the last two seasons.
Tottenham’s biggest obstacle in signing the quintet could be their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League, but if they could get them on board, a return to the European elite could be just round the corner.
