Report: James Wilson expected to sign new contract at Manchester United

Manchester United forward James Wilson is reportedly expected to sign a new deal at Old Trafford.

According to the Shields Gazette, England Under-20 striker James Wilson is expected to sign a new deal at Old Trafford and could be allowed out on loan, with Premier League clubs interested.

The report states that Wilson, who is out-of-contract this summer, is expected to agree fresh terms with United and will be sent out on loan to broaden his first-team experience.

Sunderland, now managed by Dick Advocaat, are said to be one of the clubs interested in his signature as he looks to build a side capable of a much better placed finish in the Premier League.

Does Wilson have a big future at Old Trafford?

The 19-year-old burst on the scene in the 2013-14 season and netted twice on his Premier League debut.

Following that performance was always going to be hard, however, he has shown in his very sporadic time on the pitch that he does have a lot of promise.

Although a contract hasn’t been worked out yet, for one reason or another, the latest report should give United fans hope that him signing a new deal is close and they could get to see him in the Premier League next season, albeit with another club.

The next 12 months are big for the forward, although not life or death, so it will be important he makes the right decision over his future.

A move to a Premier League club would be great, but he will needs to ensure that game time will come readily and he won’t be sat on the bench.
