Liverpool teenager Cameron Brannagan sends message as he focuses on Reds breakthrough

Liverpool Anfield Road Paisley Gateway 2

One of Liverpool's brightest prospects should get his first-team chance next season.

Liverpool are famous for producing quality young footballers and the latest batch are no exception, with current under-21 captain Cameron Brannagan among the cream of the crop.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder was called into Liverpool’s match-day squad for last season’s games against Arsenal, Newcastle United and Hull City, and while he did not get on the pitch, his ability means he should not have to wait much longer.

Seemingly already preparing for the next campaign, Brannagan took to Twitter on Monday to post a picture of himself in a Liverpool strip along with the message, “Not too far away now”.

He certainly is not, as his cameo in last season’s Liverpool All-Stars match went some way to proving, along with his string of fine outings for the club’s under-21s and in the UEFA Youth League.

While much of the talk regarding Liverpool right now is about a player who may leave in the form of Raheem Sterling, Reds fans would be wise to instead focus on the likes of Brannagan, who clearly cannot wait to get his first taste of senior action.

When he does, expect the plaudits to really begin…
