Linked-away Papiss Cisse’s comments suggest he will stay at Newcastle United

Spanish club Sevilla are reportedly interested in Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse.

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has told the club’s official website that he is determined to help the team have a good 2015-16 season.

The Magpies endured a forgettable 2014-15 campaign and narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship.

The Newcastle fans will want the team to fare much better in the Premier League next season, and Senegal international Cisse has vowed to do just that.

"I didn't play as many games as I would have liked during the season (through injury and suspension) but I had 11 goals, so I have to be quite happy,” the 30-year-old told Newcastle’s official website.

"Now, I want to make sure that the new season is even better and that I can score goals to help the team have a much better season.”

Cisse’s comments will be encouraging to the Newcastle supporters, who can rest assured that the players are determined to have a successful 2015-16 season.

The former Freiburg star’s remarks also suggest that he will remain at St. James’ Park next season - or at least he plans to.

According to a report in The Sun last month, Spanish club Sevilla are interested in signing Cisse from Newcastle in the summer transfer.

It was reported by the British tabloid that the Europa League winners want to recruit the striker as a replacement for Carlos Bacca, who is allegedly on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur (click here to read more).

Cisse has been on the books of Premier League outfit Newcastle since 2012 and has a contract which runs until June 2017, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The Senegal international striker is one of the better players in the current Magpies squad, and scored 11 goals and created six chances in 22 Premier League appearances in 2014-15.
