David Ospina was unable to prevent Colombia falling to a surprise Copa America defeat.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina could not prevent Colombia falling to a shock Copa America defeat to Venezuela.

12 months on from their dazzling displays at the World Cup, their bid to be crowned champions of South America could not have got off to a more underwhelming start.

Colombia were insipid in attack, with Radamel Falcao anonymous, showing the worst of his Manchester United form for his country on the big stage.

Venezuela's goal was scored through star striker Salomon Rondon, a former teammate of Santi Cazorla at Malaga who now plays for Zenit St Petersburg.

His header left Colombia 'keeper David Ospina scrambling from a poor starting position, diving theatrically in his efforts to try and prevent it, and it all looked a bit easy for Rondon.

With his future up for debate at the Gunners, that was all it took for the divide in opinion among fans to begin to show, much fuelled by the club being strongly linked with a move for Premier League veteran Petr Cech.

Arsenal have had trouble finding a consistent goalkeeper for years, and Cech, 33, can finally answer that.

Ospina showed great promise at Arsenal last season, winning the number one spot, but looked shaky at the end of the season and doubts began to creep in.

A victim of circumstance perhaps, he needs to have a flawless tournament from here on in to give himself the best possible chance of remaining Arsene Wenger's first choice next season.

Here is a look at the reaction to Venezuela's winner...
